Mubarak to address court from inside defendant's cell
Egypt's ousted president Hosni Mubarak will give his trial speach from inside the defendant's cell due to his health condition on Wednesday, a request granted by the judge presiding over Mubarak's trial where he is accused of complicity in killing protesters in the 2011 uprising against him.
During a court session for his two sons on Monday, accused in the same trial, Mubarak's elder son Alaa made the request that Mubarak doesn't stand outside the defendent's cell due to his condition after undergoing an operation. Mubarak is residing at a military hospital in Maadi due to his deterioriating health condition.
Mubarak, his two sons Alaa and Gamal, former interior minister Habib El-Adly and 6 of his aides are being retried on charges of complicity in the killing of around 850 unarmed protesters during the 2011 uprising that ended Mubarak's 30-year rule.
Mubarak didn't appear in court on Monday.
